The wedding is over, but now it’s time the real party starts. Couples excited to start their new life together can easily overlook packing for the honeymoon. The wedding requires your full attention and what to bring on the honeymoon may be the last thing on your least. Regardless, you don’t want to be stranded at the airport without your passport postponing the most romantic getaway of your life. Instead, plan ahead and bring these top ten items with you on your honeymoon.
- Trip Itinerary. Any trip calls for significant planning and chances are you and your significant other will be looking forward to your honeymoon from the get-go. Even if your plans are tentative, you want to be sure to bring any hotel booking information, car rental papers, and excursion details along with you.
- Travel Documents. This may just be the most important item on the list. Make sure to check your pockets twice for important items like your airline tickets, passport, credit cards, and driver’s license. These are essential to making your honeymoon the safest and most romantic time you’ve ever had.
- Guidebook. Do a little research before your honeymoon and purchase a guidebook to help you on your travels. This will help inform you of any popular restaurants, or private beaches that you may not have known about. Guidebooks will also teach you a few words from the local language and help you navigate around town.
- Swimsuit. Regardless of whether you are going on a tropical vacation or not, bring your swimsuit. Every hotel has a spa and pool, which would make for a romantic evening with your spouse. Try going for a swim in a hot springs, or soaking in the sun on the beach, but don’t forget to pack your swimsuit or you may be going in the nude!
- Money. Remember to take a good amount of cash with you before you leave. It may be hard to get cash if you are traveling abroad, so bring enough to cover your trip. Also, bring credit cards and traveler’s checks. This will help ensure you don’t get stranded in a foreign place with no money.
- Appropriate clothing. If you are backpacking through Europe, chances are you won’t need a pair of high heels. Be sure to pack light, but efficiently when planning for your honeymoon. Bring only the bare essentials that can be washed and matched with other clothing. Pack travel-sized items to conserve on space.
- Medication. If you have a medical condition, it will be extremely difficult to get the right medicine abroad. Plan ahead and pack your prescription medicines in case of an emergency. Bring your doctors number, and prepare a kit of sunscreen, aspirin, motion sickness medicine and an antacid to cover the basics.
- Camera. Capture the moment by bringing a portable digital camera. This will help preserve the memories created on your honeymoon for years to come. Don’t forget to bring extra batteries and a battery charger.
- Cell Phone. This can be particularly helpful traveling if your phone has Internet. You can access any information related to your destination in seconds and be on your way. Make sure to purchase an international calling card and to ask your provider about your international calling rates. If you bring your cell phone charger, you may need to also bring an adapter.
- Romantic items. Don’t forget you are on your honeymoon and you want it to be memorable. Pack all the lingerie, romantic music, and candles you will need to make your trip unforgettable.
